Movement is Essential
Why Fitness Matters
Obesity and weight management are among the most significant health challenges facing individuals with Down syndrome. Low muscle tone, a slower metabolism, and increased risk for heart conditions make consistent movement not just beneficial — but critical for lifelong health and independence.
Structured, supportive fitness programs play a critical role in promoting strength, coordination, mental health, and overall well-being. Movement also builds something less visible but just as important — social connection, confidence, and a sense of belonging that carries into every part of life.
DSNetwork and its partners offer a wide range of programs designed specifically for individuals with Down syndrome, at every age and ability level. 321 Knockout funds access to those programs for every family who needs them.
