Buddy UP Tennis

BUDDY UP TENNIS RETURNING TO THE VALLEY IN 2022

DSNetwork has been closely monitoring COVID and its variants aswell as the CDC protocol recommendations, while planning for how to best keep the community we serve safe in what continues to be uncertain times. Our focus has been on taking a proactive approach to protecting the health of the Down syndrome community.

ASU Cycling Study

This is a program of ASU. Down Syndrome Network is sharing their program information at the request of ASU’s Department of ASU College of Health Solutions, Sensorimotor Development Research Lab.

Who: 5-16 year old children with Down syndrome
Duration: 3x/week 30-60 minutes for 8 weeks
What: Measures improvements in cognitive skills and coordination

ASU Adaptive Exercise Program (ages 14+)

Designed for youth and adults with with Down syndrome, this program is run through ASU School of Health Solutions Director – Adaptive Exercise Program at ASU: Simon D. Holzapfel, PhD, ACSM EP-C CIFT, Clinical Assistant Professor, Exercise Science & Health Promotion, Degree Coordinator – Clinical Exercise Science. Workouts consist of ​evidence-based cardio, strength, and flexibility training to improve health-related fitness. ASU undergraduate students work 1:1 with participants to coach them through the exercises and ensure safety, to provide motivation and social interaction, and to learn from them. Aspects of fitness are assessed before and after the semester-long program to track progress.
