This event is a celebration of World Down Syndrome Day\, a day to promote inclusion and raise awareness about Down syndrome. \nBring your family and friends to enjoy a variety of activities and entertainment for the whole family including a game truck\, barrel train rides\, crafts\, music\, bubbles\, balloons\, dinosaurs\, princesses\, superheroes\, sports\, food trucks\, resource tables and more! Don’t miss the opportunity to meet incredible individuals with Down syndrome and learn more about their unique abilities. \nCome and show your support for the Down syndrome community. Let’s celebrate diversity and create a more inclusive world together. We can’t wait to see you there! \nWhat is World Down Syndrome Day? DSNetwork in collaboration with GiGi’s Playhouse celebrates World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD)\, a global awareness day officially recognized on March 21st. The date for WDSD being the 21st day of the 3rd month\, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. On this day\, people with Down syndrome and those who live and work with them throughout the world gather and participate in events to raise public awareness. \nRSVP for WDSD. DESCRIPTION:Rock Your Socks! Spread the words of Kindness. Inclusion. Acceptance. Every year on March 21\, people all around the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored mismatched socks. March 21 is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome. Socks were chosen to represent Down syndrome because the karyotype or genetic image of a person’s set of chromosomes actually looks like mismatched socks.\nWhat It Is and How It Works?\nOn March 21st\, DSNetwork encourages schools\, businesses\, and organizations around Arizona to celebrate and create awareness on World Down Syndrome Day and wear their mismatched colorful socks. Together we will create a single global voice advocating for the rights\, inclusion\, and well-being of people with Down syndrome in our schools\, community\, and around the world. 3/21\, World Down Syndrome Day\, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which is Down syndrome.\nPlease take photos of your organization rocking their socks and tag DSNetwork on social media #rockyoursocksaz\nfacebook.com/DSNetworkAZ    linkedin.com/company/dsnetworkaz/   instagram.com/downsyndromenetworkaz/\nWho Can Participate?\nAnyone and Everyone! Our main goal is to raise awareness all around Arizona about Down syndrome and have everyone ROCK YOUR SOCKS. Our biggest supporters are local businesses and schools.\nWhy socks for Down syndrome?\nSocks sort of resemble a chromosome and people with Down syndrome have an extra chromosome.\nBulk Pre-Orders: Commit to selling at least 100 pairs of socks. No pre-pay necessary\, just turn in the funds after you sell the socks. If you run out of socks\, you can always request more pairs. These orders can be placed through our Bulk Pre-Order Form. Great for teachers/school employees\, business owners\, doctors offices\, nurses\, first responders\, daycare providers\, sports teams\, student groups\, and more! Pre-orders are due by February 7th.\nIndividual Orders: You can buy socks from us for only $3 a pair. All sock sale proceeds support our impactful programming\, events and advocacy efforts. Socks can be picked up at the DSNetwork Family Enrichment Center located in Tempe or at any upcoming event. Our socks are only $3/pair for any DSNetwork family\, school or non-profit organization. Socks are $5 a pair for any for-profit business. Please email info@dsnetworkaz.org with questions.
