DESCRIPTION:Rock Your Socks! Spread the words of Kindness. Inclusion. Acceptance. Every year on March 21\, people all around the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored mismatched socks. March 21 is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome. Socks were chosen to represent Down syndrome because the karyotype or genetic image of a person’s set of chromosomes actually looks like mismatched socks.\nWhat It Is and How It Works?\nOn March 21st\, DSNetwork encourages schools\, businesses\, and organizations around Arizona to celebrate and create awareness on World Down Syndrome Day and wear their mismatched colorful socks. DESCRIPTION:DSNetwork is partnering with Higher Octave Healing for “Start with Music” a research-based\, parent-child developmental music program for all children with Down syndrome age 7 and under and their caregivers. During this 4-week course\, participants will engage in a variety of songs and music games designed to support aspects of healthy development including socialization\, communication\, and pre-academic skills. \nAll classes are led by a Board-Certified Music Therapist specially trained to work with young children. Each participant will also receive their own instrument kit to use in class and take home with them to keep. Come make music with us! \nFree. \nRegister Here
